American fire service is the responder of first course of all hazardous materials and weapons of mass distraction events. To be prepared, the fire service has invested a tremendous amount of education and training in this extensive equipment cache. Specially designed suits, each of which has a different application depending upon the product or weapon that is being addressed, are used by the hazmat teams as well as a wide variety of detection equipment and monitoring equipment. The fire service carries various tools to contain spills or leaks of hazardous materials. The fire service also carries a wide variety of containers in case the byproduct has compromised its original container.
