      Traffic Control :

The fire service uses traffic control devices to assist apparatus navigating through traffic. These traffic control devices are generally mounted to the vehicles and emit a strobe light to a receiver on the traffic lights themselves. The fire service also uses traffic control devices such as cones, flags, flares and signage to alert motorists of an upcoming emergency scene. All firefighters operating in traffic should be wearing highly reflective vests to assist in traffic control. All fire apparatus should also have special lighting to assist in traffic control.
